Statement

Almost all of my painting is done directly from memory, which
means very indirectly from the subject. All images, I find, need
a period–something lengthy–of internal processing. For me,
painting directly from a subject, whether manmade or from
nature, causes detail to overwhelm substance, often obscuring
the main concept completely! I have come to love watercolor,
especially, because it demands a direct and honest first time
application and firmly resists alteration or reworking.
