1st St. No Longer

Statement

Sarah Edrie (Sandwick) Oliveira was born in Seattle,
Washington and raised on a rural wheat farm in south
central North Dakota. Sarah's love of nature comes
from the many adventures both real and imagined, she
had growing up in the isolation of a Midwestern farm.
Sarah moved to Boston, Massachusetts to pursue her
dream of becoming a writer. Ten years and several
writing degrees later, Sarah still pursues that dream,
having been published in numerous well-respected
magazines, she continues to study the craft of writing
at Harvard University, but her forms of expression are
not limited to the written word. At the beginning of her
college career, Sarah fell in love with black and white
photography. She took classes and was mentored by
several artists. Since then, her passions have been equal
in poetry and photography. Sarah's textured black and
white images strive to capture the feeling and setting of
her home state. Sarah spends as much time as she can
behind her camera in her North Dakota home, reminding
her that the places she remembers are only a photograph away.
