Eric A. Johnson was raised on a farm near Embden, North Dakota and attended Chaffee High School in Chaffee, ND. Having no formal art training he took his first art class from Wayne Tollefson at North Dakota State University in 1991. After many more art classes and much dabbling into the possibility of a major in psychology, he graduated with a degree in Art in 1997.

Eric continued his education in 1998, attending The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, pursuing his Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking. Eric lived in Fargo and rented the printmaking studio at NDSU through the PEARS (printmaking education and research studio) program and commuted to UND for the last two years of his graduate work, which he completed in 2001.

During the last six years Eric has continued to produce and exhibit new prints in the region, as well as nationally. Recent exhibits of Eric’s work were held in Sidney, MT, Fargo, ND, West Fargo, ND, Virginia, MN, Thief River Falls, MN, and Jamestown, ND. Eric has also been an adjunct art instructor at Minnesota State University in Moorhead for both intro and advanced printmaking, and is currently an intern with PEARS.
