The Red River Valley Center at Moorhead, d/b/a Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive
Center (HHIC) was established as a private, non-profit, tax-exempt organization
in
1982. This organization was formed to provide a home for the Hjemkomst
Viking
ship, (a replica which was built in Hawley, Minnesota and sailed to Norway).
The
Heritage Hjemkomst currently houses the Red River Valley Heritage Society
(RRVHS)
and provides three major traveling exhibitions each year and numerous
interpretive
programs. HHIC maintains interpretation of the Viking Ship Hjemkomst,
the
Hopperstad Stave Church Replica, the Red River Valley Exhibit, and 7,000
sq ft
temporary exhibition space. This organization provides or hosts 3 to 4
different
exhibitions each year, residencies, performances, tours, lectures and
festivals. HHIC
