Northwest Art Center is best known for its diverse and wide-ranging exhibitions
of contemporary and traditional art by local, regional, national and international
artists. The Center's galleries, the Library Gallery and Hartnett Hall
Gallery are
located on the Minot State University campus along 11th Avenue Northwest.
Northwest Art Center welcomes the public and charges no admission.
Art Friends of the Northwest Art Center support
the activities of the Center
through fundraising and the offering of multi-disciplinary programming
for the
arts. The Northwest Art Center offers tours to selected exhibitions arranged
by
special appointment. We extend a warm welcome to all clubs, organizations,
and
schools. These tours are designed to engage participants in activities
and discus-
sions that encourage the development of critical and creative thinking
skills.
Through these techniques, participants discover works of art and consider
their
relevance to the world we live in.
The Northwest Art Center, a non-profit organization,
is supported by member-
ships, Minot State University, and in part by a grant from the North Dakota
Council
on the Arts. The Center hosts at least 24 exhibits in a year. Regular
exhibitions are:
Americas 2000: All Media, Americas 2000: Works on Paper (both are juried
art
shows open to all artists), Best of Show solo exhibitions for the winners,
a Biennial
faculty show, the annual juried student art show, and senior student exhibitions.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on holidays
The Library Gallery is open during the regular hours of the Gordon B.
Olson Library.
