The Sketchbook project is the world’s largest collection of national and international artist sketchbooks, featuring 28,000 books created by thousands or artists representing approximately 100 countries. Since its inception in 2006, the collection has been a beloved part of the art world. Contributions range from love letters and diary entries to graphic novels and intricately-detailed masterpieces, all inside the pages of five-by-seven-inch, paper-bound books. After this nonprofit decided to close, the majority of the collection was gifted to the Taube Museum of Art. This diverse representation of artistry is available through the Taube at any time, and can be curated in many different ways, in any quantity. A gallery could request a selection of photography books, watercolors, fiber art books, etc. Unlike most exhibitions, this one is meant to be touched, held, flipped through. Viewers should take the time to look through the pages, feel the textures, and become engrossed in the thoughts/feelings/life that the artist poured into the pages. As we have a quantity of 28,000+ books, we can easily provide books in any quantity at any time. Bookings could easily overlap, as two different places could have two different sets of books. All books are labeled with the artist name, title, and where the artist is from. Books would be shipped and already have containers from when they were shipped to the Taube. The books are great teaching tools, and could/should be used in conjunction with workshops (journaling, bookmaking, etc), but they also stand on their own as fine art pieces.
